Although Nakal Gin is distilled and bottled in Switzerland, it hardly looks Swiss at all. That’s because its entire focus is on “exoticism” and “Southeast Asia.” The reason lies in its botanicals: pandan leaves (with their vanilla- to nutty-like aroma, traditionally used fresh in Southeast Asian cuisine), calamondin orange (also known as calamansi), and cassia (whose bark is often used by gin producers as a fragrant cinnamon alternative). Each of these three botanicals is distilled separately and then combined with a selection of classic gin spices and herbs. Distillation takes place at the Aktienmühle distillery in Basel.
