This is a winter Christmas gin made from the finest Macedonian juniper, Spanish orange peel and Hertfordshire Christmas pudding, made by the highly acclaimed Nevie Pie Cakes from Berkhamsted.

Using a combination of steam and pot distillation techniques, the classic gin profiles and the rich spice properties of these amazing Christmas puddings are then brought into harmony through extraction.

There comes a time when the ex-bourbon barrels used for the award-winning Campfire Cask Aged Gin get a little "tired" but are still alive. PUD PUD ​​Cask Christmas Gin was first started as an experiment for World Gin Day 2018.

What is PUD PUD ​​Cask Gin? More than you think is the answer. First, the original PUD PUD ​​gin rests in the ex-bourbon barrels (for a secret number of days). The gin is then decanted into a stainless steel drum so that the ruby-mouthed bourbon barrels can be filled and left for almost a month. You guessed it, we then empty the port and replace it with the gin for another aging session. The result is a bourbon / port cask aged Hertfordshire Christmas Pudding Gin.

Under stars, by a campfire, a gin was born. Campfire London Dry Gin pitches camp on the boundary between classic and contemporary styles. Ten botanicals including rooibos, sweet, fresh orange, hazelnut* and piney juniper are distilled with the finest UK wheat spirit. A citrus nose and juniper palate yield to a rich fruity middle and a sweet nutty finish. 

The unique recipe for Campfire London Dry Gin evolved over 18 months of experimentation, imagination and sometimes intoxication. Puddingstone Distillery desire to ensure delivery of the best product possible means we carry out every part of the process, from selecting and preparing botanicals, distilling according to our own unique process, resting (the gin and us) to bottling and labelling. Then and only then we release each of these bottled treasures from our Chilterns based distillery so they may begin their own adventure.

Inspired by the flight of native bats through the British countryside this bold gin uses a unique ultrasonic process and pot distillation to extract flavour and aroma from juniper, angelica root, elderflower, coriander seed, roasted barley, Bramley apple and mint. This small batch innovative gin has been created as part of the ongoing fundraising collaboration with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.

Earthy juniper leads to the sweeter profile of elderflower and roasted barley. The fresh light finish carries notes of apple and mint.

The dominant juniper forward profile and deliberate omission of a strong citrus botanical allows you, the consumer, to shape this gin to suit your palate.

Whilst the botanicals remain anchored to that of Campfire London Dry Gin, Puddingstone have tweaked the recipe for Campfire Navy Strength Gin and raised the alcohol content to bring you a bigger, bolder expression. Juniper forward with a proper gin kick! The perfect storm… in a bottle. Winner of Gin of the Year, Navy category at Craft Distillers 2017. 

Why so strong you ask? Navy Strength spirits were introduced to pass the British Royal Navy’s potentially explosive proofing test. Simply put, if gunpowder soaked in gin still burned it indicated that there was sufficient alcohol in the gin. Gin with less than 57% alcohol or 100% proof would prevent the gunpowder from igniting and would be rejected by the Navy as it was not deemed to be strong enough. We distill Campfire Navy Strength Gin in small batches at Puddingstone Distillery. The desire to ensure delivery of the best product possible means Puddingstone carry out every part of the process, from selecting and preparing botanicals, distilling according to the unique process, resting (the gin and us) to bottling and labelling. Campfire Gin Cask Aged

Using rare juniper cultivated on the Trust’s land, the commemorative gin takes its name from the year the charity was founded. ‘1594 Spirit of Box Moor’ was launched as part of the Autumn Festival celebrations held on Blackbirds Moor, Boxmoor.

425 bottles each at 42.5% ABV were created, one for each year of the Trust’s history. The self-supporting charity manages nearly 500 acres of grazing and amenity land on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon, with a remit to maintain the area's natural environment and wildlife on behalf of the local community.

Each of the commemorative bottles featured an individually numbered tag made from paper created from used Campfire Gin botanicals. These were handmade at the nearby Frogmore Paper Mill adding to the local provenance of 1594.

Made to a classic London Dry style the small batch gin combined the Hertfordshire grown juniper with specially selected botanicals including fresh lime peel, a historical nod to the fact that Box Moor Wharf was the home of Roses Lime Cordial from 1946 till 1983.

A departure from the core botanicals was required to create Campfire Old Tom Gin – a gin that emulates the spicier, sweeter profile of Old Tom gins. Distilled and compounded processes deliver a bolder flavour and a hint of colour. Gin of the Year in the Old Tom category at Craft Distillers 2019.

Old Tom styles occupy a place on the gin timeline between Dutch Genever and London Dry styles. They typically had higher botanical levels to mask less than pure base alcohol. In some cases, unscrupulous distillers would cut this base alcohol with turpentine, sulphuric acid and all manner of other nasties to make the ‘gin’ go a little further. Angelica root, citrus and spices that were available in 18th/19th century all came into play. Importantly these styles of gin were often sweetened with the introduction of liquorice, or, when more affordable, sugar, all to make the gin a little more palatable (and sweeter).

Launched in 2019 	Campfire Old Tom Gin take on this historic style considers what an 18th/19th century rural distiller might include in the botanical line up. To this extent, in Campfire Old Tom Gin, Puddingstone have used malted barley to achieve sweetness and spiced things up with cinnamon and cardamon. These sit alongside juniper, British coriander, chamomile, angelica root, cardamon and fresh lemon peel. Campfire Old Tom Gin uses distilled and compounded processes and has a hint of colour – a spicier character than the Campfire London Dry Gin.

You don’t need to be a cyclist to appreciate this gin, but if you are it might appeal even more. Domestique Gin leads with a fruity, citrus and juniper nose and a subtle palate that blends sweet and savoury. As for the name, in cycling terms the domestique is described as a cyclist in a road racing team whose role is to help their team leader during a race, for example by setting the pace or creating a slipstream. 

Domestique Gin is an exceptional London Dry style using botanicals sourced from the host nations of some of the world’s greatest cycling events. Alongside the required juniper and British coriander we distill Spanish orange peel, French hops, Belgian angelica, Italian rosemary and Californian raisins. As a nod to the rural location of the distillery and the fact that the Tour of Britain has passed through Tring and the Chiltern Hills Puddingstone have also included rosehip.

Der professionelle und hauptberufliche Forager, James Donaldson, sammelt die Botanicals noch heute von Hand. Um den fertig destillierten Gin auf Trinkstärke zu reduzieren, wird Wasser aus der eigenen Quelle verwendet.
