Flavors:
Nose: Fresh and strong juniper leads the way with fragrant citrus fruits and cardamom. Notes of fresh orange peel and cinnamon contribute to a seductive nose.

Taste: Juniper leads again, but there is a lot more. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, while cloves, coriander, and cardamom provide depth.

Finish: Here the supporting botanicals really shine with persistent cardamom and orange peel on the tail.

A modern recreation of the slightly sweetened Old Tom style of gin popular in 18th and 19th century England, this gold medal winner is made using our classic Bathtub Gin, and offers a full-bodied sweetness perfectly balanced with juniper and spice notes.

It really is the perfect gin cocktail accompaniment.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Quite sweet with fruity juniper and citrus.

Taste: Much more noticeably sweet, liquorice allsorts, light juniper and orange Tic Tacs.

Finish: Initially clean but with lingering sweetness. Lip-smackingly tasty.

Old Tom Gin

Recognised as the 2018 Global Spirits Masters Gin Master, the Bathtub Gin Navy-Strength is made using the same cold compounding infusion technique as the Bathtub Gin, but it has a more concentrated botanical flavour to go with that extra ABV punch it’s rocking.

How do Ableforth's achieve these bolder flavours? By cracking open the botanicals - Juniper, Dried orange peel, Cardamom, Clove, Coriander seeds and Cassia bark - to allow their flavours to become more prominent, that’s how.  

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Punchy with waves of citrus and juniper before individual spices make themselves known: cardamom, cinnamon, clove and coriander. Sensational.

Taste: Big and mouth-coating with plenty going on. The palate carries on where the nose left off, citrus, juniper and all those magnificent spices to savour.

Finish: Staggeringly long with clove and cinnamon.

Crafted with up to half a pound of sloes in every bottle (that’s a lot of sloes, FYI), this cold-compounded sloe gin is a blend of copper pot still gin and bundles of juniper berries, cassia, coriander, orange peel and more. It's big, full-bodied and bursting with flavour. The sloes are sourced from a UK fruit supplier, and paired with fresh sloe juice they give this gin a delicious flavour, with a note of bitterness to perfectly balance the sweet, which comes from the almond extract we use.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Marzipan, almonds, aromatic juniper and rich, juicy berries. Very inviting.

Taste: Thick and mouth coating with exceptional tart berry grip.

Finish: Mouthwatering with whispering spices.

The Bathtub Gin Cask-Aged is a remarkably rich, flavorful, and buttery gin thanks to the three to six months it spends in ex-American whiskey casks before being bottled.

Would you like to know how all of its wonderful taste comes about? Ableforth actually uses the whiskey barrels twice. The first filling takes at least three months to collect the sweet whiskey aromas, then this liquid is collected and the barrels are refilled with fresh gin and remain there for another six months so that the liquid takes on the woody-spicy whiskey notes. Ableforth then mixes both the three and six month aged spirits together before they are finally bottled. It's not easy, but the result is delicious, so it's worth it.

Flavors
Nose: rich juniper, creamy vanilla, cardamom and sultanas with mixed candied peel.

Taste: A light herbal note, mixed berries with a creamy and full mouthfeel. Fragrant juniper.

Finish: Long with juniper and citrus fruits, especially orange.

The Botanist Gin wurde von der Whisky-Destillerie Bruichladdich auf der Hebrideninnsel Islay in Schottland kreiert. Sein milder und runder Geschmack basiert auf 22 lokalen Botanicals. Der professionelle und hauptberufliche Forager, James Donaldson, sammelt die Botanicals noch heute von Hand. Er sammelt sie auf den Hügeln, in den Mooren und an den Küstenlinien von Islay, wodurch The Botanist seinen ganz eigenen Islay Charakter erhält.
Besonders wichtig für den milden und ausgewogenen Geschmack ist neben den Botanicals auch die außerordentlich langsame Destillation in der Lomond-Kupferbrennblase namens "Ugly Betty". Die Aromen werden je nach Botanical durch Mazeration oder durch Dampfinfusion gewonnen. Adam Hannett, Head Distiller bei Bruichladdich, vertraut dabei auf seine Erfahrung und Intuition ganz ohne High-Tec Equipment. Wann die optimale Temperatur erreicht ist, misst er zum Beispiel noch heute, indem er die Hand auf die Brennblase legt. Um den fertig destillierten Gin auf Trinkstärke zu reduzieren, wird Wasser aus der eigenen Quelle verwendet.
