Dutch Courage dry gin is distilled from Nine botanicals: juniper berries and iris root from Italy, coriander from Morocco, angelica, sweet oranges and fresh whole lemons from Spain, liquorice root from India, cardamom and whole vanilla beans from Madagascar.

The gin is distilled using a unique distillation method with separate distillation of each botanical so producing a fresh, complex and layered flavour from a total of 14 distillations.

Tasting notes:
The nose is clean with fresh citrus and earthy juniper notes and a beguiling hint of spice and vanilla. The balance of Zuidam Dry Gin makes it perfect for a refreshing Gin and Tonic or a perfect Dry Martini.

Dutch Courage Aged Dry Gin is made according to the exact same recipe as our normal Dutch Courage Dry Gin using fresh citrus fruit and small batch distillations.

The difference is that this dry gin is aged in new 200liter American oak casks. This adds a layer of beguiling vanilla and spice to the still fresh and fruity gin. The result of this is absolutely stunning.

Tasting notes:
The nose is soft and mellow. It is balanced fresh citrus and juniper notes and slightly sweet, soft and gentle vanilla and spices. The flavour is completely dry and fresh with a wonderful softness.

The gentle softness and complex freshness will make the perfect Dry Martini or a stunning Gin and Tonic.

The base spirit is distilled in a potstill then redistilled with 10 botanicals: juniper berries and elderflower, iris root from Italy, coriander from Morocco, angelica, sweet oranges and fresh whole lemons from Spain, liquorice root from India and whole vanilla beans from Madagascar. The distillates are blended and diluted to drinking strength and then aged in new American oak barrels for a short period. This aging in wood is done to create an authentic flavour profile. Bottles were pretty rare and expensive in the 18th century so it is most likely that Old Tom gin was shipped, stored and served from a barrel and as such must have had some wood influence in the character.

Tasting notes:
The nose is spicy and complex with cardamom and juniper softened by vanilla notes. The flavour is ever so slightly sweet with earthy juniper and vanilla and wood spices.

Dutch Courage Apple Gin

This fruity and pleasantly light bodied genever is distilled from the three grain mash.

The Mash is made up of equal parts Rye, Corn and Malted Barley. After three distillations the resulting spirit is partially redistilled with juniper, Licorice and aniseed. This results in an unaged, fruity and fresh genever.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Fruity with pleasant aromas of juniper, vanilla and some hints of malt and bread.
Flavour: Fruity, juniper and pleasantly light on the palate.

This genever is fruity and delicate because of the extra distillation of the new make.
 
The grain spirit is distilled from equal parts corn, rye and malted barley. The corn brings a rich sweetness, the rye spiciness and the malted barley provides the backbone. The resulting very fruity new spirit is four times distilled in a small pot still. Then, it is partially distilled with selected botanicals, juniper, Licorice and aniseed. Finally, the spirit and the botanical distillate are blended and reduced to 45% abv before ageing in small oak barrels.

Nose: Rich with vanilla, toffee and oak.
Flavour: Rich and sweet with notes of oak, toffee and honey.

This genever combines the specific qualities of three different grain types.

The grain spirit is distilled from equal parts corn, rye and malted barley. The corn brings a rich sweetness, the rye spiciness and the malted barley provides the backbone. The new spirit is triple distilled in a small pot still. Then, it is partially distilled a fourth time with selected botanicals, juniper, Licorice and aniseed. Finally, the spirit and the botanical distillate are blended and reduced to 45% abv before ageing in small oak barrels.

Zuidam Oude Genever 1 Jaar

This very special genever combines the spiciness of the RYE grain mixed with fresh flavors of the juniper, licorice and aniseed.

The rye spirit is then triple distilled in a small pot still from a 100% Rye grain mash. The new rye spirit is aged in new American oak barrels for a minimum of five years. After that period of time, the botanicals are added before reduction to a drinking strength.

Age: No Age Statement as botanicals are added right before bottling.
Cask type: 200 litre Virgin/New American Oak.
