A note by master distiller Ad van der Lee: “As the special edition is a celebration of the 5yr collaboration between the grandsons and the distillery I chose for a base of a Notaris maltspirit genever batch 2014, the birth-year of Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin.

For the Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin I looked into two aspects to give an extra dimension of complexity to the liquid. First I decided to use a double oaked finish on special treated virgin bourbon barrels. I selected special virgin American oak barrels, milled with grooves on the inside to increase the contact surface of the liquid. This results in more intense vanilla notes. Second I selected the optimum strength of alcohol to get the most result on the finished character.

For me, the result is a good resemblance for the collaboration I had with the Bobby’s grandsons over the past five years.”
