The difference is that this dry gin is aged in new 200liter American oak casks. This adds a layer of beguiling vanilla and spice to the still fresh and fruity gin. The result of this is absolutely stunning.

Tasting notes:
The nose is soft and mellow. It is balanced fresh citrus and juniper notes and slightly sweet, soft and gentle vanilla and spices. The flavour is completely dry and fresh with a wonderful softness.

The gentle softness and complex freshness will make the perfect Dry Martini or a stunning Gin and Tonic.

The base spirit is distilled in a potstill then redistilled with 10 botanicals: juniper berries and elderflower, iris root from Italy, coriander from Morocco, angelica, sweet oranges and fresh whole lemons from Spain, liquorice root from India and whole vanilla beans from Madagascar. The distillates are blended and diluted to drinking strength and then aged in new American oak barrels for a short period. This aging in wood is done to create an authentic flavour profile. Bottles were pretty rare and expensive in the 18th century so it is most likely that Old Tom gin was shipped, stored and served from a barrel and as such must have had some wood influence in the character.

Tasting notes:
The nose is spicy and complex with cardamom and juniper softened by vanilla notes. The flavour is ever so slightly sweet with earthy juniper and vanilla and wood spices.

Pinang Raci literally translates as a mishmash of spices. Grandfather Jacobus 'Bobby' Alfons, the inspiration and namesake of Bobby's Gin, was well known for skilfully infusing Dutch jenever with spices that reminded him of home: Naku on the island of Ambon. As a result, he created and spiced up his own jenever!
Infusing jenever with spices, creating his own Pinang Raci, was a daily routine for Grandfather Bobby. Fueled by intuition and a genuine love of flavour, Bobby infused his favourite spirit with traditional spices. This recipe is the core and foundation of what we currently know as Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin.

A note by master distiller Ad van der Lee: “As the special edition is a celebration of the 5yr collaboration between the grandsons and the distillery I chose for a base of a Notaris maltspirit genever batch 2014, the birth-year of Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin.
 
For the Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin I looked into two aspects to give an extra dimension of complexity to the liquid. First I decided to use a double oaked finish on special treated virgin bourbon barrels. I selected special virgin American oak barrels, milled with grooves on the inside to increase the contact surface of the liquid. This results in more intense vanilla notes. Second I selected the optimum strength of alcohol to get the most result on the finished character.
 
For me, the result is a good resemblance for the collaboration I had with the Bobby’s grandsons over the past five years.”

Dit gist een maand lang in een koperen pot still: Zo komt de alcohol van nature uit de ingrediënten. Hierdoor is Goeie Mie zacht en evenwichtig van smaak.
Ten slotte wordt het driemaal gedistilleerd en wordt citroenolie toegevoegd. Zo komt de blauwe kleur in de gin: Deze komt van de jeneverbesschors tijdens de fermentatie.
 
Good Mie is fris, bloemig, maar niet zoet - proef de subtiele smaken van vlierbloesem, verse jeneverbes en smaakvolle kardemom.
Gebaseerd op het historische verhaal van de Leidse gifmenger: arseenvrij, maar met vlierbessen (heksenkruid) en vlierbes, klassiek gif, maar niet zo efficiënt als arseen.

We dived into our archives and consulted the old notes made by the Rutte family through the years, resulting in a familiar, yet complex Dry Gin that lends itself perfectly to a gin & tonic or a classic cocktail.

Citrus fruits are always a good combination in a gin. Of all the citrus fruits, orange is our favorite. The Mahi Mahi Orange gin is a London Dry gin, so nothing is added after distillation, only water to bring our gin to the desired 48% alcohol. Despite the high alcohol percentage, our gin has a particularly soft taste. Our Orange gin has also won several prestigious awards.

The Mahi Mahi Orange gin contains 9 different, carefully selected botanicals, one of which is sweet orange peel. Orange peels contain natural oils, which sometimes make the gin look a bit milky. Especially if you add ice cubes/tonic. Don't worry, this is a 100% natural reaction.

Zur Herstellung dieses Gins werden die Botanicals zwei Wochen lang in Alkohol auf Getreidebasis mazeriert. &nbsp;Dann wird diese destilliert und die beste Fraktion für den Gin aufbewahrt. Dies wird verdünnt und mit orientalischen Blüten gefärbt, um die spezifische Farbe zu erhalten. Nach einem Monat Ruhe wird der Gin abgefüllt.

Spoonbill Dry Gin is produced in small batches in the Netherlands. Pure grain alcohol is the foundation of this gin’s unique taste. Lavender and rosemary enhance the botanical bouquet of juniper, cardamom, mace and mint and reveal Spoonbill’s characteristic floral and round character.

Perfect Serve: plenty of ice cubes, 50ml Spoonbill Dry Gin, 150 ml Fever Tree Clementine tonic water (or Fever Tree Indian Tonic), dried orange slice with cinnamon (or fresh orange part) and a cinnamon stick.

Chow Hound Gin at 44% abv is a playful gin with an emphasis on the cardamom, coriander and cinnamon, which results in a warm spicy gin, perfect for the autumn and winter.

Chow Hound gin is based on the American mission that happened at the end of WWII. So using our Chocolate Labrador as inspiration created a character that speaks of determination, salvation and ingenuity. 

After the winter of desperation when over 20,000 dutch died from starvation and just before the peace treaties were signed, an agreement was made between both sides to allow USA and UK airforces to drop food parcels over the Netherlands without the threat of bombing from the ground. The food that was dropped over Valkenburg where we are based was from the US airforce and they called their mission Operation Chow Hound.

The JVS Gin is a navy style of gin, so it’s a little stronger at 55% abv so to give it the right profile we use the cooler botanicals such as rosemary and lemon thyme along with a narrower distillation cut to deliver a high quality, strong yet smooth gin. Great aromas of juniper and herbal notes come bursting through as you sip it neat or mix it up.

JVS Gin is named after Jan Van Speyk, a Dutch naval hero. As with many heroes, the stories have become embellished over time and we grew to like the young man who was determined never to surrender regardless of the threat!  As an orphan, JVS grew up in Amsterdam and was trained as a tailor.  His heart yearned for adventure though and he retrained as a sailor and went to protect the Dutch Trade lanes. During the Dutch war of independence, he did not realise that his ship was being blown close to the coast and that the Belgians were approaching.  Too late, he had to take action, and blew himself and his crew up!

Foolhardy or brave, reckless or determined, whichever way you look at it, Jan Van Speyk lived and died for what he believed in. In an age when our way of life can feel under threat, would you stand up for what you hold dear? How far would you go?

Janneman is an exceptional London Dry Cask gin and is a finely distilled, handcrafted Dutch dry gin, with seven botanicals, which are first macerated – soaked in alcohol – and then added to the still. The Nepalese timut peppercorn (belonging to both the pepper and the citrus families) is the signature botanical of the distillery. This berry grows high in the Himalaya’s, and contains all the aromas which are so characteristic for all gins of the distillery. The base is for this gin is Duivelskral and the gin is finished on an American oak Bourbon cask that is also been used to finish Hertog Jan Grand Prestige beer. The finish makes Janneman smooth, adds a little color and adds nice sweet tones of the vanilla of the American oak.

A strong, old man with dirty hands and nine fingers. That’s pappoús Andreas. A blacksmith from a small village in Greece, called Dadia. Pappoús Andreas was a hunter. Chasing wild boars, hares and deer… he loved it. In spring, pappoús went to the mountains to collect tea. He let it dry for months in his little, old barn. By summer, the whole place smelled like mountain tea.  

As a little boy, I spent the summers with my grandfather. Day after day I wandered around nature’s playground, exploring the mountains. But what I remember most? That smell of Greek mountain tea: minty, citrusy, and fresh. I wanted to capture that scent and memory forever. Because there is no better appetizer than gin, the result is Andreas Gin. My love for pappoús captured in a bottle. 

Characterized by the refined flavor of mountain tea, Andreas Gin is a well-balanced combination of Dutch craft and Greek ingredients. A fresh and spice-forward gin. Besides pappoús’ tea, our gin is distilled with 11 other botanicals and spices, such as cinnamon, clove and liquorice. Comforting flavours that my grandmother loved to use in here kitchen.  

Andreas Gin is handcrafted and non-chilled filtrated. This way we preserve all the distinctive, intense flavors. To keep the memory of pappoús alive, we use a light label with Andreas’ face outlined in the kettle’s steam.

This genever is fruity and delicate because of the extra distillation of the new make.
 
The grain spirit is distilled from equal parts corn, rye and malted barley. The corn brings a rich sweetness, the rye spiciness and the malted barley provides the backbone. The resulting very fruity new spirit is four times distilled in a small pot still. Then, it is partially distilled with selected botanicals, juniper, Licorice and aniseed. Finally, the spirit and the botanical distillate are blended and reduced to 45% abv before ageing in small oak barrels.
 
Tasting notes:
Nose: Rich with vanilla, toffee and oak.
Flavour: Rich and sweet with notes of oak, toffee and honey.

This fruity and pleasantly light bodied genever is distilled from the three grain mash.

The Mash is made up of equal parts Rye, Corn and Malted Barley. After three distillations the resulting spirit is partially redistilled with juniper, Licorice and aniseed. This results in an unaged, fruity and fresh genever.

Nose: Fruity with pleasant aromas of juniper, vanilla and some hints of malt and bread.
Flavour: Fruity, juniper and pleasantly light on the palate.
