Cockneys' Premium Gin is the oldest gin of Belgian origin.
Based on the original 1838 recipe, and with the addition of 15 meticulously selected botanicals, it is today a spicy as well as refreshing gin.
The Cockney’s distillery, founded in1838 by a Londoner who came to live in Ghent, is still to be seen there at No 32 in the Lange Violettestraat. Subsequent to the Londoner’s return to England the distillery was owned by Jules De Brabandere and thereafter came into the hands of the Hoste family for three generations.
In 1989 it was taken over by Luc Waterschoot, who had learned the trade as an employee of the Hostes and who brought new dynamism to the old distillery.
