One year after market entry, a story was to begin in summer 2018 that KNUT HANSEN could not have told better even in his lifetime. The KNUT HANSEN GIN was just being placed in an old oak cognac barrel when the girls and boys from Timbercoast came up with the idea of sending the gin in the barrel on a clean world tour.
The starting point of this incredible adventure was the Elsfleth shipyard, where the barrel was loaded onto Timbercoast's own freighter AVONTUUR in October 2019. While the ship crossed the equator twice on its journey, leaving countless coastal towns and islands behind, the barrel was rocked by wind and waves below deck of the AVONTUUR. The aromas of the oak barrel thus combined with the gin much more quickly than when stored upright, giving the gin its very special and unique taste.
