In the old town of Lisbon, people like to drink a ginja, also called ginjinha, a dark red sour cherry liqueur in the small standing bars in the evening. For Beijinho do Sul, Portuguese for “kisses of the south”, we macerated sour cherries from the early summer of 2018 from the Black Forest and the Altes Land and distilled them very carefully. We have married this sour cherry spirit with a particularly spicy gin distillate to Beijinho do Sul.
